This is a maligned graphic mod I've been working on over the past year or so. I've rebuilt it quite a few times and am doing so again for the Entrenchment Expansion. I hope to actually finish it this time around.

 

I'm currently working on the TEC effects. Unfortunately this modding thing is still new to me, so its taking me a little while to turn out new particle effects.

Lost_Wld said that the different weapon points of each ship had to be changed. I believe that involves changing each ship, and redirecting the weapon meshes and textures to the ones Wld made.I'm just gonna wait till v2.0 before tring to merge the mods, or better yet, wait till Danman merges them.


I haven't messed with any mesh stuff. I just changed the travel/hit graphics for the weapons that were already there; along with their rates of fire.

Are you sure this is your "first" mod? Seems you're tearing up the field quite nicely!I really like the more visible shielding. Had a couple flaks attacking my Advent colony capship and it was quite pretty to look at. You gonna do anything with splodeys? -- Retro


Heh, ya it's my first mod ever.
There should be more slpodeys in the new version as I've fixed most of the hit graphics. I think...

Also, I'm toning down sieging 'slightly' based on feedback. There will still be a few booms though .

I think its about time for a Vasari update.

As your probably guessed from the screenshots, the giant energy ball around the Desolator shrinks as the explosion on the planet grows.

I'm trying to give each capital siege ship a separate sieging animation to make them more unique.

I liked the fixed timing issues and thicker lasers, but when I looked through the files to merge it with my mixed-mod fileset, I noticed the Merge version had the Entity files (which would have messed with the sins plus gas giant research, then I checked the Gauss cannons for each empire so it wouldn't conflict with changes I made, and found a typo in the damage levels. I checked the capital ships and found very consistant "typos" that increased the base damage for TEC by 62% and Decreased Vasari base damage by 60% ---across the board---

Anyway, I was wondering since you said the gameplay wasn't changed, that if when you wrote the mod you didn't accidentally start with pre-existing modifications (unless I discovered an evil plot against the vasari do de doooo ......

If you're talking about planet damage, its the same DPS as 1.04. The UI displays planet damage as damage per cycle instead of damage per second.

If you'll notice the TEC bombing cycle was increased in length to compensate and the Vasari one was decreased in length. There for the DPS is the same. They are not typos or a conspiracy... the conspiracy is buried a little deeper... muahahah

Looking good, I was wondering have you thought about changing the vasari banana looking weapon fire thats on the kortul and some other ships. I think it could use some of your imaginitive work.

The Vasari beam looks awesome. If the Radiance is gonna keep its purple beams, I think the firing effect should be changed to match the color as well. I guess I just don't like when colors don't match lol.

Already did, it 'should' look like lightning with a green core now.

Ya, me either. I don't know how to modify muzzle/hit color/size right now though.
I'll try to make the inner or outer beam a little closer to the muzzle flash.

lol, me too. I'm scheduled for a solid four days at work.

I'm still putting all my free time into the mod though.
Up to around 130 hours so far.

I've actually tried to put some videos up on youtube. It keeps telling me the codec isn't compatible even though it supports avi files. I'll have to find a converter to change them another format. I'm using Fraps to try and capture images.

I'd really like to show off the new Marza, Desolator and Revelation sieging animations. A simple screenshot doesn't do them any justice. I just hope I'll be able to capture the audio too. I've changed their sound files so you know when they're sieging.
