This is a maligned graphic mod I've been working on over the past year or so. I've rebuilt it quite a few times and am doing so again for the Entrenchment Expansion. I hope to actually finish it this time around.

 

I'm currently working on the TEC effects. Unfortunately this modding thing is still new to me, so its taking me a little while to turn out new particle effects.

Exactly that. They seem just like the TEC nukes in way of projectile size/shape/direction. The TEC nukes are cool, don't change them, but the Advent's look just like the TEC's, but with a different color and added glowey effects. Its still cool and all though.

I really like them (although maybe you should keep the posts in this forum instead of the general Sins forum to avoid giving the impression that you're advertising your mod ).

One way to make the advent's different might be to spawn the "electrical storm" explosion effect at the impact point in addition to a less massive purple cloud, representing the psionic energy of their attack (plus it would better match their siege capship animation). Might these be included by copying the right section of the Explosion_criticalhit particle files to the Advent hit file?

Ya, I'm not too happy with the explosion effect of the Advent siege either. I only have bailknight's particle effects in non-text format though, so I'll have to try and make my own. I suck at particle files right now, but I'm learnin.

Looks pretty, those new booms.

The only suggestion I have, is to make the explosions (especially the TEC nukes) last longer. I never liked it that the explosion cloud vanished so fast. So if it is in your abilities, if you could make them last about twice as long as now, I would be happy. (Only the explosion cloud, not just make the explosion slower.)

Hi guys. Quick update to prove I'm not sitting here and only picking my nose. I can multi-task.

Here is the current version of my take on the Phase Missile.
Keep in mind this is my first attempt at editing particle files. :/




As you can see, it's shiny. It also wound up looking a hell of a lot like a twinkling photon torpedo from Star Trek but, oh well.

Finally here's a video to show off the hit effect. It's kind of hard to see everything at 320x240, but you'll get the general idea.

Couple feedback comments

- some sexy video there, paticularly the last little bit... but...
- might want to shrink the impact effect radius by two-thirds and double up the spark element. There's a bit too much surface area there and it looks like it should take out the frigate entirely. Also:
- Verify that this won't kill someone's poor computer if a fleet of Vasari missile frigates encroaches.

Don't worry. I made the second flash about half the size it was, plus the missiles now twinkle like a star in the night sky.

I think having one type of missile on screen the whole time might get a little boring so I'm trying to create a second smaller travel and hit graphic for the LRMs.
